At Happy Tails Animal Hospital, our team is the heart of everything we do. From experienced veterinarians to our compassionate support staff, each member of our team is here because they genuinely care about the health and happiness of your animals. We bring together diverse skills, local roots, and a shared commitment to providing thoughtful, personalized care for every pet and every family we serve. Meet the dedicated team behind Happy Tails Animal Hospital. Each member of our staff brings a genuine love for animals, a commitment to quality care, and a personal touch that helps pets and their people feel right at home. Get to know the friendly faces who care for your pets like their own.

Justin Dahl, DVM

Veterinarian and Owner of Happy Tails Animal Hospital

Dr Justin Dahl is originally from Superior, Wisconsin He graduated from SHS in 1995, attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior for his undergraduate work and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his veterinary degree, graduating in 2003. He worked in Duluth for 13 years before opening his own practice in 2015. He is proud to be back in his hometown of Superior. His goal in opening his own practice is to offer quality medicine at affordable prices. He also strives for excellent customer service, wanting to make both his patients and their owners happy and proud of this clinic.

Dr. Dahl resides in Billings Park with his wife, three kids, and his dogs. Outside of work and his family, he serves on the church council and teaches Sunday school at his church. His personal interests include running, reading, football, and the study of history.

Becky Prosecky, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Prosecky is a local, born and raised here in Superior, WI. She earned her BS in Wildlife Ecology from the University of WI-Madison in 1996. She continued her education there graduating with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She has been practicing small animal and exotic medicine for the past 22 years. When not at work, Dr. Becky enjoys camping, spending time with her critters, and travelling near and far.

Melissa Miller

Veterinary Technician and Office Manager

Melissa graduated from Duluth Business University prior to the start of their technician program in 2003 with a degree as Veterinary Clinical Assistant. She worked at a clinic in Duluth for 13 years and then came to Happy Tails Animal Hospital in April 2016. Melissa currently lives with her 3 daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 rats in Duluth, MN. Melissa is excited to be a part of this growing business and she looks forward to the years ahead! In her limited spare time she enjoys spending time with my family and friends, activities on the lake and reading.

Missy Estby, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Missy graduated from DBU as a Veterinary Technician in 2015, She have been married for 30+ years to her husband, Steve, and 3 boys (Tyler, Preston , and Jacob). She have 2 dogs (Maggie and Colt), 2 cats (Walter and Elsa), 5 pet goats (Bonnie, Clyde, Ivy and Marianne, and Fiona) and chickens. She lives in Two Harbors, MN. Her hobbies are to go hiking and camping. She also loves photography.

Haley Nelson, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Haley was born, raised, and still lives here in Superior, Wisconsin; she graduated from Duluth Business University in March 2018 as a Veterinary Technician with her externship being here at Happy Tails Animal Hospital. Before starting her path in the animal field, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin Superior with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Therapy. Currently, she currently has two dogs (Noni and Eli) though she is hopeful to have a hobby farm sometime in the future. In her free time she enjoys art, hockey, and cartoons.

Kendall Bergerson

Veterinary Technician

Kendall was born and raised in Duluth Minnesota; she graduated from Colorado Mountain College in May of 2020 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She has worked at Happy Tails since August, 2020 and she absolutely loves what she does. She still lives in Duluth with her dog Buddie. In her free time she loves to go hiking, swim in the lake and spend time at the cabin.

Veterinary Technician

Amy graduated from Duluth Business University in 2001 as a Veterinary Clinical Assistant. Amy worked at a clinic in Duluth for 16+ years and then joined the Happy Tails team in 2019. She loves being a part of a business that helps animals and their people. She loves every part of this career and hopes to continue that for years to come. She currently lives with her daughter, 1 dog and 8 chickens in Duluth, MN. In her spare time she loves spending time with family and friends.

Kayla Denney

Veterinary Technician

Kayla is a southern girl on a new adventure to our area. She comes from the state of Virginia with her husband. They have 3 dogs (Jax, Diesel and Bodie ) and 4 cats ( Tebow, Oscar, Toothless, and Cheeto). Kayla has been a veterinary technician at Happy Tails since 2020. Caring for animals has been her passion since she was a little girl. In her free time she enjoys paddle boarding on the lake and taking photos of the wonderful scenery.

Danielle joined the Happy Tails team in September 2024. Danielle grew up in southern Minnesota, but moved to Duluth from Rhode Island. She has worked in the veterinary field for several years.
